Subj: [kl] Clarinet repair

I live in a small rural town where we do not have a local music store/repair
shop. There ones that I know about are in towns approximately 45 minutes
away. The problem I have is that I do not get to talk directly to the repair
technician (only one has a "full time" tech and the last time I took a
clarinet in, he wasn't in to talk to me) and the person I am usually dealing
with is a salesman (they are men, so I am being correct!! LOL) which means
he can't tell me too much , so our conversation would basically be him
asking me what I want to have done to the clarinet and me going "well, uummm
I think it needs a new pad/tenon/ etc" Then I have to hope and have faith
that the repair tech is conscientious. And I haven't ever received any kind
of written communication from the tech as to what was done, or any of the
things that I have heard mentioned on the list. Does anybody else have this
kind of problem? Or is this something I have because I am not affiliated
with a college/symphany?
