Tony, How would you make such a device? I'm thinking that it would be =
best
to have something that could be removed-something like a mini oil filter
wrench made for this purpose. I sure could have used such a thing for =
the
past several weeks. In the highly air conditioned hall we were playing =
in,
I had to take the barrel and mouthpiece off my eefer and tuck it into =
the
waistband of my pants to keep it warm. (the piano had been tuned to A444 =
and
it was the one and only time I've EVER wished for a shorter barrel for =
that
eefer!) At least once or twice, I accidentally knocked the reed off =
center.
My Dad has some sort of "gripper" tool lined with rubber that has a =
handle
and can be adjusted for size, but it's far too large for a clarinet
mouthpiece. I'm going to check the hardware stores to see if there =
might be
something already made that would be small enough for this purpose. =20
It also might come in handy for smaller students who have trouble
twisting their mouthpieces and barrels off their instruments sometimes.
