Well all I can offer is this anecdote. I won a hard rubber clarinet on eBay
that had been stored on a peg, fully assembled, in a well lit room for who
knows how long. The entire instrument, including the mouthpiece, and turned
brown on the outside. The inside was still black. The mouthpiece under the
ligature was still black. It seems to take only a little protection to
prevent the color change.
