Well, while I don't know the context of the statement, I would
often say to my math students, "Explain ...[this or that]"

When they would say, "I know what it is, but I can't explain it,"
I invariably answered, "If you can't explain it, you don't know
it."

To whatever extent the quotation below is applicable to this
anecdote, I believe it.

I'd go further.

It's complete crap, written by an idiot who should be shot. Many
of the
present ills of the world can be traced to this sort of idea.
