I've been wondering if there are any special care or maintenance
instructions for an instrument with leather pads. When I think about
leather, I think about the "dry, cracked and crinkly" quality that comes
with age on leather furniture, for example. I also think about leather
shoes that harden when they get wet. Am I correct in thinking that leather
pads will dry out over time, especially if the instrument is not used
regularly or are they treated before application to preserve them somehow?
