I have used Encore, Finale and Sibelius. I find that Sibelius has much of
the power that Finale has, but more of the ease of use that Encore has.
For extracting parts, I have (when in a rush) merely extracted parts in
Sibelius and printed them without checking - so far without any problems.
Gvox were promising an upgrade to Encore, but apart from an upgrade that
allowed it to work in Windows XP, nothing new has been added to a programme
that was very good four years ago! Finale brings out a new version each
year. It seems to be approaching more the Sibelius model and becoming easier
to use. It is definitely very powerful, but for ease of use I recommend
Sibelius.
