Subj: [kl] Fobes bass clarinet mouthpieces

I do use Babbit blanks for my NOVA bass clarinet mouthpieces, however they
are sent to me "semi-finished" to my specs so that I can apply a tip baffle
that works well with my facing. I do NOT use the Babbitt blanks for my
professional "San Francisco" series mouthpieces.

Currently I am working with Hans Zinner to develop a new bass clarinet
blank. The prototype (which I have played in the SF Opera and the SF
Symphony) is stunning. I have 20 on order and I hope they will arrive in
about two weeks. This blank is reminiscent of the old Riffault blanks and
has wonderful projection without getting coarse.

I am also working on a "Debut" bass clarinet mouthpiece that will be
acryllic and hopefully list for about $50. I am very excited about this
project, but I won't know if this will be available until I work on the
initial prototypes. As many of you know, there are NO good plastic bass
clarinet mouthpieces on the market. This will be made from a new mold of my
own design. I hope this mouthpiece will be ready by the TMEA in February.
