There is something wrong with the C if it sounds like a Bb (or vice
versa!) :-)

Dan,

I do have a comment (and this is by no means conclusive of course!),
but when I played my hard rubber C clarinet, our orchestra director
could not tell the difference between that instrument and my
R13 Bb. He did not even realize that I was playing two different
instruments.
