Loran--

I think the more important question about you're a clarinet situation
is: Are YOU happy with the Concerto A? If so, do you really need
another A clarinet. Some believe a matched set is better, to many it
doesn't matter. I only had one matched set--my Prestige RCs (until they
were stolen), and in my experience, it is the clarinetist--and not the
clarinet--that makes the difference. The only way a matched set would
be beneficial IMHO is if the serial numbers were so close, that there
was a possibility of both instruments being made from blanks that came
from the same tree.

So...if you are happy with the Concerto A, and you really do not need a
replacement, I suggest you save your money at this time.

David

Hi David,

Thank you for your quick reply. Actually it is a Leblanc Infinite A.=20
I was surprised as I have a Leblanc Concerto A which only came with a
standard unmarked barrel, and wondered why the Infinite came with two
and yet the Concerto didn't. Yes it also seems odd that they would be
such a close size and would be more useful if they were different
lengths.

Actually you may be able to answer another question I have. I
originally bought an Infinite Bb nearly about 8 years ago. I tried
several different brands and also models of each and this was the one I
liked best. When I came to buying an A for it I would have had to order
it from France without trying it first and I wasn't keen to do that so I
bought the Concerto instead as I got it slightly cheaper as it had been
a shop display model. The opportunity has now arisen to purchase an
Infinite A. Is this a better match for my Bb? I have tried them both
as I have the infinite on trial. To be honest I don't think there is
much difference between them. I know people do say you should have a
'matching' pair but is this just an appearance thing?

Thank you,
Loran
