Yes, cork pads will create more "noise" than regular
bladder pads. It's something that doesn't bother me
personally-I feel the noise is really negligible, but
others may differ. However, cork pads can last a lot
longer.
One method I've read about to keep water away from a
tone hole is to coat a little bit of bore oil in the
bore ahead of the tone hole. This will divert the
flow of water away from the hole.
