There's something at stake here that's more fundamental than the price
itself --- namely, when a manufacturer tells their dealers what price
they must advertise.

It's legal to do this in some circumstances, but it's fundamentally
unethical, imo. When you think about it, Yamaha appears tobe requiring
dealers to lie (in print, hence a provable act) about their 'best
price'. I'm not sure about the legal definition of fraud or false
advertising, but this comes close to it when judged from a layperson's
viewpoint.
