With the exception of children who are just beginning, most people drop
the weight into the bell and pull towards the mouthpiece. Children are
sometimes advised to do the opposite because they thoughtlessly cram the
swab in a single wad into the instrument, and when they pull towards the
mouthpiece, it gets jammed.
