Well, the Conn/Selmer thing I knew about because I got mail from them
(why?) pushing that new 1904 anniversary clarinet that probably costs
more than I make in a year. At least Steinway is known for its pianos
(putting it mildly). Whether it can manage a couple woodwind and brass
shops and allow them to preserve their identities...another story. At
least they were not acquired by WalMart, Enron, or Martha Stewart
Omnimedia while that disgraced former Series 7/63 broker gets what she
deserves. A Vito Dazzler is ghastly enough--a plaid or quilt-patterned
Selmer Signature might be a bit much.
