Subj: [kl] Water in tone holes
Date: Wed, 28 Jul 2004 10:09:26 -0400

I've been playing a gig these last few weeks and the area we are playing =
in
has been air conditioned to the max. It's so cold in there, we've had =
to
wear sweaters during the rehearsals, even though it's 80 degrees =
outside.
Our tuning has suffered a bit, since the instruments cool down so =
quickly in
between numbers and I have had more problems with water in the hone =
holes of
my clarinets than I've ever had. Our performances begin tonight and I =
can
only hope that when the theatre is filled with people, it will be a bit
warmer in there.
I swab frequently, keep the clarinet in an upright position and have
kept a paper towel handy to soak up water under the pads whenever I can =
but
I still have problems with this. Does anyone have any secrets they can =
let
me in on to prevent the "FZZZththththth" sound I get on certain notes? =
It's
driving me crazy. =20
