Hello Krista - welcome to the Seattle area. There are *many* fine clarinet
players here. One of them is Bill Smith - while he's certainly a legend, I
don't believe he teaches a private studio, however. He is a fantastic
composer, though and I believe still teaches composition and jazz studies at
the University of Washington. You should hear him some time.

If you've never had a lesson before, there are any number of people in the
area who could school you on fundamentals. You're already out of high
school - are you planning on studying at college? There are a number of
fine programs very close to here.

I play a fair amount in the Seattle area, but don't teach. I have many
friends and acquaintances who do, however. It's unrealistic to think that a
good teach will meet your price constraint, however. Email me offline if
you want some names.

Regards,

kjf
