Someone here commented "Considering the amount of money that
manufacturers spend on advertising..."

This raises an issue about acoustical science --- namely, companies such
as Buffet and Yamaha and so forth certainly can afford the equipment
that graphs audio spectra. In fact, I have to believe that at least
some of the major manufacturers have at least looked at spectral graphs
as part of their product development cycle.

If a manufacturer had spotted something in graphs that could be used to
distinguish between models (or brands) --- something more informative
than the tired adjectives that they use, which I'm sure they probably
snicker at themselves --- I'm certain that we would've seen graphs in
advertisements or catalogs by now.

.....well, I wasn't intending to invest $10,000 in such equipment
anyway, but now I'm even more certain that I won't.
