I haven't heard many negatives about mini disc recorders from anyone. =
At
least 4 people who have heard the recordings I've been able to do with =
mine
have also purchased mini disc recorders. Even with the cheap PC =
microphone,
I get very good quality recordings for my purposes-mostly making CD's =
for my
students to practice with or listen to at home. The Sharp I have has =
the
feature someone else mentioned that allows one to adjust the recording =
level
during the recording. I can also set it to sync record so the recorder =
can
be "attendant free" during a recital, for example. The recorder
automatically ends a track during periods of silence and then starts a =
new
one when performance resumes. That way, I don't waste a ton of disc =
space
in between performances. I end up with some silent tracks about a =
second or
two long, but those are very easily deleted and I can reuse the disc.=20
The recorder has too many features for me really, such as the =
ability
to name each track that I record-I never have time for all of that. I
simply feed the sound into the computer as soon as I can and I know =
which
performance is which without having to name each track in the mini disc
recorder. I made a piano accompaniment CD for the Girl Scouts to use =
for
Christmas caroling in future years last Christmas. I used my Yamaha =
grand
piano and recorded the accompaniments in my studio and I was rather
impressed with it all when I was done-except that "Joy to the World" was =
too
fast. (I must have had extra caffeine that day or something) =20
