Well, you didn't ask for other opinions, but I'll offer mine anyway. :-)

If you saw my response to Emily, you'll see I mentioned that I use the Sharp
MD-DR7. Though it is among the more expensive models, I am quite happy with it.
One feature that is not available on some other models is that you can adjust
recording input levels while the recording is taking place (i.e. without having
to stop the recording to adjust).

You can find info about minidisc technologies at:

http://www.minidisc.org/

I bought my recorder at Audio Cubes:

http://www.audiocubes.com/

Click on the "Portable Audio" link on the left-hand side of the page, then
"MiniDisc Recorders". Here is a direct link to info on the MD-DR7:

http://www.audiocubes.com/product_info.php?cPath=71_75&products_id=361&osCsid=06e9b0671bd8c86e661da8c33b2fe3e4

(You may have to copy & paste segments of this URL, as I don't know how it will
be broken up by yahoo mail or the klarinet list server.)

Note that I do not represent either MiniDisc.org or Audio Cubes. I'm just a
happy MD-DR7 user and Audio Cubes customer sharing the links.

Also note that I don't think the MD-DR7 is normally available in the U.S. If
you happen to buy one from an importer like Audio Cubes, you should be aware
that the device is meant to run on Japanese electrical outlets. Though the
voltages are similar to those in the U.S., don't take any risks; make sure you
get a voltage converter. Audio Cubes has info on this.

Or you can simply go with one of the less expensive models that are available
at your local electronics retailer.

Regards,

Andy
