My dispute is entirely with one thing and one thing only. How do
you know that the thing you are tweaking will yield the result

There are times that I absolutely DO NOT know. I have gone down many blind
alleys. I probably still am pursuing a few.

I also find methods and materials that produce excellent results and in a
repeatable, expected way, also in a more efficient way.

This is not laboratory theory here. It's try it and see.

The first 25 mouthpieces I ever did are still in a drawer. They are junk.
Number 26 you could play on. Number 525 is measurably better. Number 725 is a
very very slight degree better.

But, I keep trying, refining, etc. I know of no other way to advance.

Can you suggest one?
