When I can hear tonal difference from pressing harder on open holes I
suspect slight pad leakage on the pads
related to the ringed levers over the open holes. By pressing harder on the
rings, I may be sealing some pads better. After a recent overhaul this
"difference" from firm to light fingers I had also noticed appeared to be
eliminated.
