It is simple, not especially cheap, though.

A simple tube is used to reduce and simplify the experiment; tonal
differences would occur due to the different volumes in each clarinet, along
with edge effects due to the holes, etc.

If we want to just measure differences if any that the materials induce,
then we need to discard as many variables as humanly possible, otherwise
we'll be debating forever.

If we want to check at different tones, then we can start with a long tube
and reduce its length.

If there's ever a statistical difference then we can stop the debate on
whether or not there is a difference and start figuring out how there is.

I was told the initial results but ... I was told second-hand, they were
never peer reviewed or duplicated anywhere, so in the interest of science I
can't reveal the results ... even for a pizza.
