Ken, I shouldn't wish a political career on a nice guy like you, but I'd
vote for you. My main problem with the feds managing health insurance is
that they might do it about as well as they managed the new and improved
warfare lite.

Oops, I didn't make clear what I meant. He wasn't one of the hospital
staff causing the problems - - he was the one solving a lot of them, and
giving me facts that some other staffers tried to cover up. I wanted to
kiss him, not sue him. He perceived that surgeons and horror movie critics
have a similar fondness for morbid humor. I teased him back by addressing
him as Dr. Phibes, Dr. Mordrid, Dr. X, Dr. Syn, Dr. Faustus, Dr. Blood, Doc
Savage, Dr. Cyclops, Dr. Death, Dr. Mabuse, Dr. Morbius, Dr. Frankenstein,
Dr. Humpp, Dr. No, Doc Holliday, Dr. Doolittle, Dr. Moreau, etc.. (He knew
who most of them were, too.) He and my husband were about the only people
who carried on normal conversations with me in the hospital. Most others
acted as if they might as well get an early start on sitting shiva.
