Hi Christy, If Morrie is your tech, you can send him anything and he will
make it sound wonderful. I'm not so sure anyone else can do that. Steve
Fowler does all of my emergency work and I love him. He is very good at
what he does (he used to do the repair for the U.S. Naval Academy Band, one
of the nation's premier service bands. But Morrie just overhauled my
Patricola eefer, which I had played into a casket. He made me a bell and
barrel. When I take it out of the case and put it together, I then tell it
to play whatever and it does. All I add is the air and the right
keys. The pitch from note to note is amazingly accurate. I can play all
the way up to A above the staff with no trouble. My only complaint is that
I am having difficulty switch from the eefer to my other clarinets because
I have a Greg Smith mouthpiece on the eefer and a Lomax on the others and
the two aren't anything alike. Make sure if you buy a less expensive
instrument, that the tech who upgrades it is really qualified. I just
returned from a stint with a band in the midwest and I received the nicest
comments about my eefer playing that I have ever had (and from the
conductor, no less).
