A couple of observations:

(Off topic) Messages to the list complaining about the list being off topic
are really a waste of time. Subscribe to the moderated list if you don't
like it. Or alternatively, just naff off.

Want a good idea, look at Medicare. Not the mangled mess it has become under
the current Liberal government, but the original 1980's ideology put forward
& implemented by Labor. It might not be perfect, but it solved a lot of
problems for a long time, and you can still walk into any hospital and get
treated. But don't talk to dubya about it, 'coz he and little johnny don't
really like the idea... They'd prefer to spend the money on Big Bombs and
other boys' toys.

Now, why is it that traditional "right" politics always seems to say "Don't
like your idea, off to put my head in the sand now" where traditional "left"
politics seems to say "Don't like your idea, what can _we_ do to make it
suit _us_ better?" (I hesitate to say "everyone better"...)
