I did not say that we should quit trying to come up with ideas but instead
challenge people to be part of the process of coming up with the ideas.
While everyone works on developing that new system, it is of course
necessary to continue with the old.

While the US system has its flaws, it is working reasonably well. Here in
the Detroit area, we have Canadians frequently coming across to get care
that they cannot get in a timely fashion in Canada yet they have a national
healthcare system for all citizens. The Canadian system has resulted in a
shortage of doctors and nurses. Patients there must sometimes wait
dangerously long times for vital surgeries.

Who said anything about profits? I said costs. These are entirely
different things. If a proposed system results in either increased costs or
decreased availability, then even more people will die. This is worse that
the current scenario. No matter who pays for it, it's got to be affordable
and available.

Again, I challenge people to come up with proposals. So far all the various
examples in the countries of the world, even those with "universal
healthcare coverage" have serious flaws.
