I would strongly recommend Morton Feldman's "Clarinet & Stringquartet" and
if that's too long there is an earlier, very nice piece of his for the same
instruments. Feldman had a rather religeous attitude towards music, yet he
would probably have refused to have instruments in a Synagogue.
Best wishes,
danyel

Subject: [kl] "Jewish Music"

I have been asked to participate in a chamber orchestra program this
September. We will be performing in a Synagogue. I have been asked if I have
anything
suitable something with Jewish themes and/or by Jewish composers.

The orchestration would be solo clarinet and strings.

(We plan on doing the Prokofieff "Overture on Hebrew Themes" sometime in the
future, but for this concert, we will not have a piano.)

I remember the conversations we had awhile back about the music that Simeon
Bellison had arranged.

Dan Leeson has been kind enough to forward the CPO number to me, and I'll be
ordering the CD. Does anyone else have any idea how to get copies of the
music?

Any other suggestions would be helpful as well!

Thanks

Walter Grabner
