Hi everyone,

Lately I've been experiencing a very odd problem with my throat.
Well...perhaps I should start off with a bit of history.

I started playing the clarinet at 8 and continued up until high school.
Then I went to college to major in computers (don't ask). I didn't have my
priorities straight and practicing fell by the wayside. Now I'm done with
all that foolishness and have resumed playing with my church's band. The
problem I've noticed is that I seem to be stressing too much while blowing,
opening my throat too much to the extent that after a few minutes of steady
playing my air column goes off-course and wlnds up coming out of my nose!
Sometimes it feels as if I am stretching to make room for a golf ball in my
mouth. I'm tempted to blow it off as lack of practice, something that will
improve as my embouchure gets stronger again...but I don't recall ever
having this problem back when I started off. Or it could be that I'm
overexerting myself in an attempt to be heard (too many trumpets).

Has anyone ever experienced this problem before? Any
recommendations...besides just plain old relaxing?

Thanks in advance,
Elisha
