I had a very good student with extreme problems (inherited from an
accident). I persuaded her to use a Kooiman thumbrest (Maestro). It =
worked
extremely well for her. It does take a bit of setting up, and it does =
mean
re-working at the technique of using the side trill keys. However it =

work in its stated aim of taking the pressure off the thumb.=20

Once set up, she has never looked back and has gone from not being able =

play for more than about 5 minutes at 15 to graduating with an honours
degree in Performance at 21. I think that is testament to the worth of =
the
Kooiman thumbrest.
