Kenwrick asks how to make a reed narrower:>>

Get a piece of plate glass, and a sheet or two of 320 and/or 600 sandpaper.
Lay the sandpaper on the glass and draw the edge of the reed against the
sandpaper. The reed has to be completely perpendicular to the glass. Hold the reed
in the center and do NOT apply much pressure near the tip. Draw the reed away
from the tip toward the butt. Do both sides the same amount, unless the reed
is lopsided. Viola' reed is narrower. Repeat as necessary.
