Hi yall,
The discussion about flutter tonguing reminded me that i still cannot double tongue and that i have no clue if reed instruments are able to. Every director i've had said to use "ta ka" or "da ga" or something similar, but they were all brass players. I've picked up a trumpet out of curiosity and i could do the double tonguing just fine, yet when i attempt it on sax or clarinet it never seems to work. I believe it has something with reed instruments being secured in the mouth while brass instruments rest outside. Is there anyone out there who can do it evenly on reed instruments and if so could you describe how you manage it?
Bryan
