News papers hesitate to offend their advertisers, but *photographs* mean
something a bit special to them because a photogaph is not just a
reader's "opinion" and photographs attract attention.

One time in my life, when I was offended by a merchandising practice, I
mailed a photograph and a brief comment to the local news paper (rather
than a detailed letter-to-the-editor). The photograph couldn't be
dismissed so easily, and the paper ended up doing an entire article
including their own photographs and interviews. About three weeks
later, the business changed its policy.

I'm thinking, of course, of an honest photograph of a bent-up display
model, or perhaps a dismayed parent being given the bad news by a
teacher or repair person.
