Subj: [kl] First Act Instruments appearing again

I was extremely upset to see our local Wal-Mart carrying the Chinese =
First
Act band instruments today while shopping. I quickly called for a =
manager
to speak my peace about these poor excuses for "musical instruments," as
they are labeled. I also let them know there is not a music teacher in =
town
who would recommend one of these things for their students and that if =
one
of my students ever shows up with one, I'll send them straight back to
Wal-mart to retrieve their money.
I also quickly alerted our elementary band director, who thanked me =
for
the "heads up." Even so, I'm sure we'll have a few new flute, trumpet, =
and
clarinet players showing up at school with one of those things this =
fall.
As I recall, we recently had a discussion regarding these instruments =
and
Costco. Any ideas to help Wal-Mart join Costco in leaving the band
instrument business? =20
