Band-in-a-Box is a very useful tool for playing along with
accompaniment, especially if a person is interested in doing small
ensemble work in a jazz group, such as a quintet, etc. I know it's been
around quite some time, because I remember the Navy band I was stationed
with in San Diego purchasing it for people in the band to work with
back, oh, around 1992, I believe? Maybe later?
I don't know how far it has come now, or if the rights were bought by
another company or what, but I know I'd like to have something along
those lines - both for improv and for classical playing, for clarinet,
flute and alto sax.
