You seem to really want to play Bumblebee. Why is that? I have to agree with
what others who are very knowledgeable have said; it does not strike me as a
wise choice for a college audition. I would think that you would want to play a
major work written for the instrument, not an arrangement/transcription of a
minor work that wasn't even originally written for the clarinet. While
Bumblebee might make a fun encore in a recital setting, for an audition it is
not very appropriate.

I would think audition requirements would include, at a minimum, a major work
for the instrument and some scales (major and minor). Perhaps some
sight-reading as well. It's been a long time since I auditioned for a college,
but that is what I recall from my audition at the Hartt College of Music. My
advice to you is that you contact the Washington University and ask them what
their audition requirements are. Also, do you have a private teacher? Your
teacher would know your abilities and limitations, and thus be able to best
advise you.

Since this is early July, you have closer to two months to prepare, depending
on how early "early September" is. Don't you have anything else in your
repertoire that you could work up?

Good luck!

Andy
