My exposure to Revelli was measured in hours at an ad hoc high school honor
band during the 1965-66 school year. The dislike I developed for him in
that brief period of time has lasted for almost 40 years. Perhaps he was
more bombastic and obnoxious in such a setting. My previous three year
exposure to a very unpleasant band director in junior high school may have
sensitized me.

Don't believe this doesn't happen today. A few years ago my son was
playing in a county high school honor band when one of the local university
band directors yelled at him for tapping his foot. I can tell you that his
desire to ever to play for that director again is zero.

I refuse to pay to be abused and don't recommend it to anyone else.
