Practice swimming under water, staying under as long as you can.
Practice with the purpose of increasing the amount of time you can
gently expend energy on only one breath. In bumblebee you get only 2 or
if you are really good at catching a fast abdominal breath on the second
page, 3 breaths to complete the thing and that is if you can play it
fast enough.
However, Virginia Hill is right. They want to see what you've got both
technically and musically and from that they might be able to make a
determination about whether or not you have enough talent and
willingness to put forth lots of work to move forward into the
professional arena.
Try the Poulanc Sonata, 2nd mov. If you can make'em cry, you are in. Or
play the whole thing.
