Subj: [kl] Franz Schoepp - Benny Goodman's teacher

I got the CD "Benny Goodman Clarinet Classics" and in the bio info it
mentions Franz Schoepp as having been one of the very top Clarinet
teachers of the early 20's. The CD didn't make it seem like Franz was
just the local Chicago teacher who was good, it implied that he was
like another Bonade or Bellison. "The finest Clarinet teacher in
America" was what the bio info read. It was written by Dr. Arthur E.
Zimmerman.

I wonder why that name didn't stay as a name remembered in history?
Anybody else heard of him?

I bought the CD as it had Bartok on Piano playing his Contrasts
w/Goodman (was written for Goodman).
