That title came to my mind for an earlier note and no one has
commented on it. It is the title of an opera by Menotti, one that
I played about 25 years ago. It is a science fiction opera for
kids.

I have always loved Menotti's music and played one of the
earliest performances of his perennial favorite "Amahl and the
Night Visitors." The first performance took place on TV but I
think I may have done the second or third live performance in a
theatre.

Well, "Help, help! The Globolinks" is a charming children's
opera, and by that I mean that most of the roles can be sung by
children as well as being an excellent choice for parents who
want to take their child to an opera.

Unfortunately, Menotti never rose to the level that everyone
expected of him. After his first opera, "Amelia Goes To the
Ball," (which has a magnificent overture), everyone expected him
to be the next Puccini. But it never happened.
