..and speaking of business matters...

Months ago, I described a concert of new music (three concertos and
other stuff) wherein the composer is a university student who managed to
assemble a full symphony orchestra to perform his senior compositions
(which were required for his diploma) in front of a 600-700 person
audience.

The music included many 'contra' instruments as well as the high-pitched
instruments --- including the huge contrabass saxophone that you hear
about every so often, a full-sized pipe organ, a glass armonia, a triple
bass (I didn't know there was such a thing), a tubax, serpents,
diggeridoo, and so forth.

....anyway, it was an excellent concert, and I paid for a recording in
the lobby because I wanted to hear the concert again immediately as I
stood up from my seat. I also admit to curiosity whether the recording
engineer could do justice to the very wide array of solo instruments.

Unhappily, something went wrong with the business arrangements, and 5
months later, 1000+ copies of the concert recording --- plus an unknown
number of $20 bills --- are being held hostage by someone for some
reason.

I haven't any knowledge of what the problem is, but it *is* an
unpleasant reminder that writing a excellent book or composing excellent
music (which this concert certainly was) is no guarantee that the rest
of the world will know about it or experience it.
