Klarinet Archive - Posting 000083.txt from 2004/07

I find individual messages much easier to deal with. I just set up a
separate folder for "klarinet" list mail, and a filter to send all
list
mail directly to that folder. The messages sit there until I have the
time to look at them.
In the meantime, it's really easy to get rid of the off-topic
political
crap by sorting the messages by subject, blocking out all the unwanted
subjects, and hitting "delete" once. Takes all of about five seconds.

From somebody who gets over 500 mail messages a day, believe me - the
digest version is a lot easier. I can scroll through the day's
postings with my scroll wheel and read from one to another - the
entire digest takes about 5 minutes to read. With the individual
messages, it's click, click, click, click, click from one to another.
There was the day when I used to have everything go into about 40
separate folders, but that has long passed. Now it's only 4 and works
fine.
