The problem with any new copy of a Morre reed is not the actual reed
dimensions (although, as we know they provide an excellent model) but rather
the cane itself.

The cane used in the Morre reeds from the 60's to early 70's was superb.
Sure, there were some duds in the batches that were sent over, but for the
most part when you got a shipment that was "live" it was unbeatable.

The later runs of Morre reeds, towards the end of the manufacturing cycle
were less successful, with many (most?) boxes being "dead" - with poor
vibrational quality.

The current remaining boxes which are still for sale from one US music
distributor are not the aforementioned "live" reeds, but rather (it seems)
the less successful run produced at the end of the manufacturing cycle.

As far as I know, the source of cane used in the Morre reeds was never
revealed.
