Sydney Lippman "wrote" the American version of this song in 1947.

This was the same year that Lippman's Broadway musical "Little Boy with
Cheek" played for 108 perormances and then closed, but I can't discover
if "Laroo" was one of its songs.

The song was recorded in various 'love song' albums by Perry Como, Vic
Damone, Peggy Lee, Nat King Cole, and so forth. In some versions, it
was described as a waltz.

....that's the most that I can find. Unfortunately, work is
waiting....
