Thank you, John. Now the source of "laroo laroo" (but converted to
romantic purpose) is explained.

When searching the Internet, I found hints that someone in the BBC
organization choose Lilliburlero for precisely this reason. Allegedly
he (or she) wanted to throw the Irish tune right back into the Irish
population's collective face with a "We're boss, and we're doing this
just because we can" label attached to it.

Also, Lilliburlero commemorated (in some histories) a battle, and WW II
was certainly a battle, and this added to the "appropriateness" of the
choice.
