Warren, I haven't posted much lately but I've been hanging around here =
for
several years. These flare-ups do occur occasionally and I find them =
rather
entertaining myself. Sometimes the "flare-ups" are over clarinet issues =
and
sometimes they involve topics such as the current political discussion.
The great thing is that computers have a delete key and I've learned to =
use
it if the topic doesn't interest me. These folks really do eventually =
go
back to the topic at hand but the wanderings sure do liven things up. =
We
also do often share personal stories and it's all related to our lives =
as
musicians.
To be a good musician, in my own opinion, one must learn to share =
their
heart and soul with others and perhaps this type of discussion is simply =
an
extension of our ability to share our emotions so openly with the world.
After all, we are not making music here so we are forced to communicate =
in
writing. Perhaps we are better at the art of sharing ourselves and our
emotions through our music so please bear with us. Things always do get
better.
I live in Wisconsin so I can't comment on clarinet availability in =
Los
Angeles. My suggestion would be to look up several experienced woodwind
technicians in that area (several belong to our list I believe) and see =
if
they have any instruments available for you to try out. I tend to stay =
away
from stores when looking for an instrument. =20
