Heifetz commissioned a number of works which he found unplayable. The
rest of it including the denouement, I don't know. he never played
them. Composers often work with players - Brahms and Joachim? Bach and
Ward Swingle? etc. ya ti da ya ti da.

What I have quickly learned is that this is a seriously dedicated group
of professionals - and if a tune of mine can go one of three ways when
it comes to a fork in the scale, other things being musically more or
less equal -then, for the purposes of this series of compositions -I
want to choose the one with the easiest fingerings.

This is not a matter of tip toeing around the forked fingerings,
avoiding trills over register changes; -trying to AVOID mistakes. I want
my tunes to sing in the voice of the instrumentalist playing them.

Now I think I've taken enough of your good attention, so I'll work with
what you've given me, and give you first shots at it when it's done.

I'm at instruments@-----.net on the western slope of the Berkshires
near the Hudson River.

Thanks again.

Bob Wood
