Key oil really makes a big difference. For clarinets I usually use
standard key oil, but for saxes and the larger clarinets I use Bach rotor
oil. It is thicker, and comes in a nice pin oiler. It is VERY effective
for quieting key rattle. And, of course, lubrication reduces wear, so it
is better in the long run as well to keep the keys well oiled.
