The clarinet is old, the plating is all gone, the keys have depressions in
them from finger contact, have been swedged to death and still they are
noisy. I have been playing that clarinet since 1967. By having the keys
replated, hopefully I can recover the use of a perfectly fine
instrument. Otherwise, I will be forced to find another clarinet (or loose
keys) of the same vintage with keys in better shape and fit and attach
those keys to my instrument. Replating is an easier alternative. I shy
away from oil for the simple reason that with all the play in the keys, the
oil leaks out and makes a mess. Been there, done that.
