Do yourselves a favor and get a Reed Wizard from Ben Armato. I have never
been one to fuss with reeds. If the reeds wouldn't play after a swipe or
two with reed rush, then out they went.

Last week at the OK Clarinet Symposium, I tried Ben's Reed Wizard on a
whole new box of reeds right out of the box that were in need of slight
adjustment. A pass through his machine made every one perfectly playable
to me. The fellow from Rico was watching over my shoulder while I fixed
reed after reed. I turned around and asked him why, if this little two
piece tool could fix any reed I put on it, that reed makers couldn't make a
box of reeds that had no duds. He mumbled out some bull about lack of
technology. If Ben can make a two piece tool that can be held in the hand,
then I am sorry, but the big reed makers should be able to find a way to do
the same on an automated machine. The money spent on the tool will pay for
itself many times over in the cost of wasted reeds.

Nancy ( And Ben is so nice, too! It is my understanding that the profits
from the Reed Wizard go to scholarships for clarinetists.)
