Dan Leeson sent a clipping, datelined New York, 6/10/2004:

Glenn Kantor (GBK) replied,

I enjoyed the limericks! Clever folks on the BB.

That link goes to BrokenNewz.com, datelined 6/10/04. Curiously, BrokenNewz
credits the story to William Grim, 6/2/04. However, the story was first
published earlier than that. The San Francisco Chronicle, which intended
the satire as an April Fool's joke, accidentally ran it early. My father,
not realizing the item was a joke, clipped it and snail-mailed it to me,
but without the header, in a letter postmarked March 29. Therefore the
article was in print on or before March 29. I wanted to send the item to
the klarinet list then, but decided not to, because my father couldn't
provide adequate attribution. He remembered that the "Philharmonic"
clipping was a sidebar to a longer, obviously serious, article about the
steroid scandal in sports, but he hadn't saved the issue and couldn't give
me the date or the byline.

Someone who wrote a clever, copyrighted satire deserves credit for it. Does
anyone know the original source of this item? Did William Grim write it,
or is the BrokenNewz publication plagiarized, with a false byline?
