I wanted to take this opportunity to announce to the list that my beloved
teacher and favourite clarinetist, Wesley Foster, is retiring from the
Vancouver Symphony Orchestra as of next Monday, June 14th. I am extremely
sad to know I will never again hear his incredibly warm, chocolatey sound
and his sensitive, rich orchestral interpretations in the Vancouver Symphony
Orchestra. His playing has opened a rich world of music which has enriched
my life, sweetened my heart and nourished and touched my soul. It would be
understatement to say that his voice will be deeply missed. Wes plans to
teach more, do recitals and chamber music concerts.

It's my understanding that auditions will take place in October or
November. If any of you are interested in auditioning and would like to
find out more about Vancouver and life here, I'll be happy to answer any
questions. Please don't ask me about salary and benefits - I don't have any
information on that.

Additionally, our fabulous Principal Bassoon, Chris Millard, is moving to
the National Arts Center Orchestra in Ottawa (conductor Pinchas Zukerman),
so Vancouver will be searching his replacement too (though, if you know
Chris, you'll realize that's impossible!).

Too much change!!!!!!
